12 days to Legion 12.

Time to travel back to the '70s and forecast your selection of the Final 4 to make the back cover of the upcoming Legion volume.

We have for your perusal a selection of 11 Superboy/LSH covers and 1 Karate Kid cover - all the work of Mike Grell, and most unfortunately with the hideous "cigar-band" across the top that DC employed in the mid-70s.

We have still not had anyone strike gold - the closest being 3 for 4, by Will for Dynamic Duo, and Lightning + Chemicals for the Spectre.

Here is the slate:

S/LSH 213
S/LSH 214
S/LSH 215
S/LSH 216
S/LSH 217
S/LSH 218
S/LSH 219
S/LSH 220
S/LSH 221
S/LSH 222
S/LSH 223
KK 1

Since I have absolutely no shame, having gone 1 for 8 the last 2 months, I'll kick things off. I had little exposure to the '70s Legion, so this is a stab in the dark for me:

215, 217, 219, and 221.

I debated about whether they'll pick the Karate Kid, but it's just not a great cover IMO.

Good luck!

S&LSH 218

As covers go, these are an uninspired lot. Why is every other cover has half the Legion sprawled unconscious?

Okay, I'll play this time. I bought these off the shelf, so I feel like I have a better grip on which of these covers really grabbed me at the time.

Here goes: 213, 216, 223, and KK 1

I hope I'm right, I HOPE I'm right...

I'm going with davidbstewart's selections -- Saturn Girl's eyecatching pose on 215, Tyroc's debut on 216, Charma's wiles on 221, and a nod to Karate Kid's solo series with ish #1.

OK... I had to think about this one for a while. As I've done in the other rounds, I try to guess before looking at what other people have picked. I went back and forth with several covers, including 215 & 217, but in the end I'm going with these:

216
219
223
KK 1

I think Karate Kid is a given, and I also feel strongly that a Tyroc cover will be featured--and 216's his first appearance. (it's too bad that all of the worthwhile early Tyroc issues will be in the same archive). 219 has Fatal Five and 223 features Time Trapper, so I think they might be worthwhile also.

Wow, this is spooky. I looked at the covers and made my picks, and then I scrolled down to reply. Not only are these my picks, but that was the exact reasoning I used to pick them, too. Great minds, and all that, eh Carsda? Except of course if we're wrong.;

I'm going to gamble on Karate Kid not making the back cover.

213
216
217
223

You know, as much as the "cigar band" cover is ridiculed, I prefer that to the "Ralston Purina" checker board covers that came out in the late 60s.

That's because of Geocities policy of not allowing direct links to image files. The links should go directly to the html pages which contain said covers. Just change the .jpg at the end to .html and they work fine.

Can you tell I don't like Geocities?
